What the heck are you talking about?!?! Gimli was in the trailer! It looks horrible! I don't recall either Legolas or Gimli being in the book. Jackson took some liberties with the Lord Of The Rings movies, but at least he left the stories intact. It looks The Hobbit is going to be a butchery! I'm gonna go see it, anyway, though...

Looks like I'm going to have to make time to reread the Tolkien books; references keep coming up and it's been a long time.

I did not see Gimli! Please tell me where he is. I do believe that John Rhys-Davies swore off acting dwarves because of the discomfort of the prosthetics

Regardless, Gimli is the son of Gloin so it is not unlikely that there could be a strong family resemblance. Also, Gimli was most likely alive at that time and left in the iron hills when the 13 Dwarves set out for the Lonely Mountain.


Legolas, on the other hand, is the son of Thranduil, the Elvenking who imprisoned the dwarves in Mirkwood. It is, therefore, the most likely thing in the world for him to be there in mirkwood and even in the Battle of Five Armies.

I have only seen the LOTR and Tintin of all of Mr. Jackson's films but I respect him as a filmmaker and hope he will do a good job with the Hobbit.

All the other shots in the trailer could have happened in the book except for the elf cavalry surrounding the dwarves. As an aspiring filmmaker myself, I have found that it is impossible to adapt a book word for word and scene for scene to a Film. A book is not a film and a film is not a book.

Nevertheless, I hope and that Mr Jackson and Weta do a GOOD job on the Hobbit. If not... there will be a lot of outraged fans, some in kilts....

He better not be in the Hobbit! Well...I suposse when they are in Mirkwood, he could make an appearance. The Elven King IS Legolas' father after all...maybe he could be the guy who gets drunk and falls asleep and essentially let's Bilbo go on a barrel ride down the river

Seeing Galadriel in the trailer really confused the hell out of me. However, I am not going to join on the "lets talk smack about Peter Jackson for putting her in the movie when shes not in the book" bandwagon because there are literally NO females in The Hobbit whatsoever. Jackson added so many scenes for Arwen in LOTR because the massive amount of testosterone in the movies was too much. Even though Glorfindel doesnt make the cut (......) and Arwen does, he did it on purpose to bring some women into the movies (even though he traded Glorfindel, one of the most bad *** elves EVER, for Arwen)

Same with Galadriel in The Hobbit. There literally isnt a single female in that entire book. Without Galadriel in the movie, we girls would be reduced to dressing up like Smaug or....or...heaven forbid, GOLLOM during premier night

Hey, The Silmarillion is pretty cool.

if you think that book is exciting, may I recommend a Mollecular and Cellular Pharmacology textbook next?

Good book to read if yuo want to really nerd it out...but idk how I will ever sit through The Silmarillion.
