Oi(nk) lads 'n' lasses @ XMTS
Hi lads 'n' lasses,
Johnny Selkie from Norway land here.
(Optional reading)
After doing some research on my ancestral background while visting relatives in the coastral parts of the western Norwegian county of More and romsdal, I found out that I'm affiliated with the Sinclairs of Caithness through the Viking Jarls (Earls) of Orkney and Shetland who married into the Sinclair family long time ago. As of now I not offically an member of the Clan Sinclair association, but I hope to become one after I've written and sent them the membership application I'm working on at the moment (collecting all famillytrees, references etc takes time).
End of rant.
Anyways I decided to join this forum as I'm fairly new to kilts and my new found heritage which now allows me to wear something else than the bunad (norwegian national costume) which is less practical, more historical incorrect and way more expensive (With all the accesories they cost in the range of 3000 - 5000 pounds) than the highlandwear I've planned to acquire in the near future.
Johnny

Thanks guys for the welcome, just waiting for my post to appear in the kilt advice subforum. Got some questions about Sinclair tartans, Caithness district tartans, where to buy such tartans etc.

Hello Johnny! My grandmother's family came to the USA from Wick up near there. Most of the scattered decendants came through western states, my branch ending up in California. I figure that the Caithness Cormacks probably are as closely connected to the Norwegian Kormacs as the Buchanan Cormack's, so maybe we are related!
