Open source kilt pictures?
I'm off to search the web in a moment, but will ask and check back here.
Is there a place to go to get non-copyrighted picures I can download, specifically of Highland Regiments both in WWII and currently?
I'm doing another bagpipe/Scotland presentation for gradeschoolers and was just informed they have a computer projector available if i can use it. I think it woulod be nice to have pictures to show the kids, but definately don't want to start using copyrighted stuff and I don't have time (less than 2 weeks) for the correspondence needed to get permission to use copyright things.
I wish I believed in reincarnation. Where's Charles Martel when you need him?

Wikipedia pictures are copyright free.
Start here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highland_regiment
And then follow all the links down the page till you get enough.

Or in Wikipedia Commons:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index...ttish+regiment
Click 500 at the bottom of the page. It will refresh and you will get all pictures under the heading 'Scottish Regiment'.

You might want to check the vintage kilt thread, right here on xmarks.

Very good! Thanks to all of you. Believe it or not, this is the first I've heard of Wikipedia Commons. Wiki, yes, but not the picture boards. Thank you for the link.
And as for our own vintage kilt thread right here on XMarks, I'm giving myself a facepalm right now for not thinking of that sooner.
Again, thanks. I don't need a boatload of pictures, just enough to give them a taste of what I'm talking about. I should be able to get what I need pretty quickly when I get home from work tonight.

Limited reproduction of copyrighted material for educational purposes is Fair Use under the law. You're not selling, or even mass-reproducing/posting the photos online; I think your case would certainly fall within the Fair Use guidelines.
IANAL, but as a publisher I deal w/ Fair Use decisions all day long....
Addition: Kudos to you for being concerned about others' copyrights. As technology has made infringement ever-easier, awareness has become slighter.

Check the forum in which people share their vintage kilt photos. There are quite a few photos of the Highland Regiments.

For current images, search "Royal Regiment of Scotland".
