ebay jacket heads up for the macleods
I wouldnt normally post a link to a live auction (unless it's a buy it now), but the number of interested buyers on here is likely to be fairly small I imagine, and it has no bids currently...

Mess dress jacket with loud macleod cuffs and lapels... About 18hrs to go... Size 44l and made by Alex Scott in Aberdeen

Well i was going to say you wouldnt catch me anywhere near loud macleod, but that's probably more to do with the ex wife having a suit made of it rather than the tartan itself... Macleods do seem rather proud of it though...
I did notice an edwardian doublet on there too, suspect it might have silver buttons on too...

I am. Makes me wish I were a size 44.

I know this is going off topic, but how does one measure for a jacket?
Also, NH, I haven't seen any DIY stuff from you lately. What gives?

I bet this is an example of a jacket that looks much better worn, than on the hanger. I could see this on a gentleman in a kilt in the same tartan, and perhaps yellow and black diced hose, with red garters, looking rather smashing for evening wear. And a red three-button waistcoat! Don't knock it, guys. It's my size, and if I were a MacLeod I'd be very much tempted.

A noble attempt, Matt! But the thing is hideous, let's face it.
Why not, instead of the outfit you propose, fully embrace the garishness of it and wear that jacket with a bright scarlet-based or purple-based kilt, with a vivid lime green waistcoat..?
Why, such an outfit could give these a run for their money!

Why any MacLeod would be tempted to wear that tartan is beyond me (it being an Allen Brothers one, absolutely bogus, and ugly to boot).
