First Nations Style Kilt Pins
Have come across a few mentions of North American, First Nations/Peoples style or inspired kilt pins on the forum lately. Riverkilt's arrowhead pin comes to mind.
I have a silver, Zuni bear paw that I have used as a kilt pin.
Show us and discuss your kilt pins of this sort, if you will.
If you have sporrans of this theme, that also might be interesting.
Thank you.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

This is something I've thought about, too. There is some amazingly beautiful West Coast Salish metalwork available. I have even discussed it with a Native art dealer in Vancouver.
One of my ideas is to see if a Native artisan would re-interpret my family symbol in West Coast style. After all, Eagles are common features in their symbolic art, and so are cougars--so how would they envision a gryphon?
I'll be seeing him on Friday, so I will make a point of asking about kilt pin sized pieces.
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.

I seem to recall Riverkilt having a buffalo sporran.

My Dad has a nice sand cast belt buckle that is the right size for a kilt belt. He made the comment a few years ago that when he's gone I can use it for a kilt belt.

This is a Kwakiutl sun in silver. I now wear it on my British Columbia tartan kilt.
