Elkommando returns
After I emailed Mountain hardwear yesterday, I got this response.
Response (Mike) 02/01/2012 08:52 AM
Hi Charles,
Thanks for contacting us. No need to worry, the Elkommando Kilt will be making its triumphant return to the MHW product line in the upcoming Spring '12 season. It will be available exclusively through www.mountainhardwear.com and REI. The S'12 season officially launches Feb 15, so keep your eyes peeled.
Regards,
Mike

NICE...I think I'm going to have to check 'em out at REI.

Re: Elkommando returns
I hope they added belt loops and shortened it a bit. The factory belt slipped under my pack waist strap and having it drag on my knees hiking up hill was a nuisance. I passed this feedback on to them last fall and was told then to not expect a kilt in the 2012 line. Guess I'll keep an eye on their website.

Re: Elkommando returns
Good to hear, just wish the nearest REI wasn't 3 hours away from me. Would like to give one a try but think this is something I want to try on before I buy.

My experience with REI is that they don't stock this in the stores. It's an on-line item.

Coming back around Valentine's day? And through REI? My member's dividend just might be committed to a certain clothing item.

Maybe not all REI will stock it. I bought my first one as the Seattle REI so I could try it on. I have two of them as my daily walk to work kilt and running kilt. Glad they are returning, it is a good product.

Re: Elkommando returns
Since they made a huge leap in improvements from feedback between the Mountain Kilt and Elkonnandos. I am hoping the backpack and other "flaws for packs" get resolved. They were way more comfortable though than my Utilikilts with a back pack - i had to go beltless toting my external frame pack with them as they both sit on the same spot.

The Good News: THAT is good news. I hope that they offer other color choices.
The Bad News: I’m at my “winter-waist” size. That is, size Large is tight but EX-L is loose.
Looks like I have some exercise/diet work to do.

Re: Elkommando returns
Please, no. Not Velcro. I hate the stuff on clothing. It's noisy, snaggs lint, and shreds any surface that might rub against the exposed hook portion. I remove it and replace it with another fastener where I can.
