eastern North Carolina plam trees?

Do any of you in eastern NC have palm trees, or know somebody who does, that I could come and cut a few (10-12) branches off of for Palm Sunday? I've been thinking for a while that it would be fun to take a quick trip to the coast for palms.

Live oak, bay and cedar, but no palm trees. Sorry! You could check with some of the landscapers in the area to see if they have some. Just an idea.

I was hoping for some Tarheel travel here. I periodically go through the Palmetto state and the Peach state on the way to the Sunshine state to visit the in-laws, but I don't get to go east very often.

There is a metric ton of Palmetto down by the big water. Sort of bush high, but the leaves look very much like regular palm trees.

The furthest north palm trees I know of not in gated communities are around Charleston, SC, especially - no suprise - Isle of Palms.

I am pretty sure there is some Palmetto on the grounds at the pre-Revolutionary mansion of the English govenor of the colony- town is New Bern, historical site is escaping me, been a few years... I'll think of it in about two hours.

You might give the nice folks in the gift shoppe a call. I doubt they will let you come take clippings out of their extensive gardens, but I bet they know someone who will.

If you can wait a few years, piperdbh, I have several one-year-old Date palm seedlings, and at least one parent was Medjool Date.
