Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

    I'm confused, not insulted.
I don't plan to let hearsay stir up my emotions, though.
Hope all come to an understanding together.

I think you may be right Bugbear. I googled for news articles with the school name and the word kilt for the last week. All I got was another article refering back to this one.

It is probably in some school policy somewhere to only allow males to wear pants to prom, but I still find this a little ridiculous. Would they deny a female from wearing a pants suit? Would they deny an African male from wearing a ceremonial dashiki to prom? Can it only be a tux?

I wrote a polite letter to all the people listed in the article. This isn't something to get all uppity about, but I think showing support for the freedom to tastefully represent ones culture at a formal event is the least we can do.

I'm trying to laugh about the whole idea of something like this becoming an international scandal, complete with the beating of cyber drums.

I might add that not every group considers proms, ie dancing, to be a respectable activity, in the first place. I have first hand experience of this...

I just don't know for sure who is saying what, and the back stories, etc.

Sounds so far the author is saying he said they said. An no local news media coverage. St. Louis may be conservative but the media should have been on this if there was any meat on the bone for this story.

The author of this particular blog is the son of a close family friend. I have no doubt that the information Mark is providing is accurate, given that he is his father's son. His father, God rest his soul, was the epitome of a gentleman.

This battle has been fought and lost by many school districts across the country. We will see how this one settles out.

Thanks for providing that information, Cajunscot, it's often difficult to figure out what is actually going on or who to listen to just from short articles and such.
