Tartan Day 2012
Given that Tartan Day (April 6th) falls on Good Friday this year are folks aware if it (Tartan Day!) is being observed the day before, the day after or on the day? Since G.F. is a statutory holiday where I live (New Brunswick, Canada) I will be kilted at work tomorrow.

How about Scotland WEEK! April 6-14. Seven excuses to wear the kilt!

New York is also having Tartan Week http://www.tartanweek.com/
In the US where I live, Good Friday is a working day, so I'll be kilted. In Northern California the Tartan Day festival and Scottish games are on April 14th to avoid the Easter weekend. http://www.eastbayscots.org/Tartanday/

The 12th annual Missouri Tartan Day festivities will be held April 13-15 at Frontier Park in historic downtown Saint Charles, Missouri. Typically, this event is indeed held the weekend after Tartan Day, however, as was stated in a previous post, since Good Friday falls on Tartan Day this year and Easter Sunday a couple of days after, it was quite logical for the organisers of Missouri Tartan Day to have it the weekend after Easter.
For more information visit the official website of Missouri Tartan Day - arguably one of the best Tartan Day celebrations/events I have ever attended in the Midwest.

My good mate and professional piper/piping instructor, P/M Matt Pantaleoni and I at the 2009 Missouri Tartan Day celebration at Frontier Park in beautiful, historic Saint Charles, Missouri. Note - you can see a wee bit of the Missouri River in the background, as well as the huge bronze statues of Captain Meriwether Lewis, his dog Seaman and William Clark; the famed early 19th-century explorers who set out not too far from Frontier Park on their journey west. Frontier Park is nestled in between the 18th and 19th-century buildings of downtown Saint Charles and the Missouri River - quite the striking venue for a Tartan Day celebration!
Marching with the very small, Clan Macpherson contingent during the 2010 Missouri Tartan Day parade through the cobblestone streets of downtown Saint Charles. My aunt, Carolyn M. Smith Macpherson, can be seen with her dog, Seamus.
I hope to see my fellow Missourians 'out and about' for Missouri Tartan Day!
