What color of bonnet to go with Maple Leaf kilt?

    Hello,
I'm considering having a bonnet custom made and I'm not sure what color to choose. I'm thinking of a solid color bonnet with no dicing and a contrasting toorie. Here is a picture of the kilt in question:

I don't want to be to "matchy-matchy" so that's what's making the choice difficult. Thanks,
    Remy

I would probably go for a fawn colored bonnet. It's neutral and won't look bad with anything else you wear to complement your kilt.

Fawn, Lovat blue, Lovat green, or any of the navy and black Balmorals would look smart in my opinion.

    Cheers,

    Remy,
I wear a grey Ryan Ross hand-knit bonnet ordered through the Scottish Tartans Museum. After seeing your post of your ordering that kilt, I placed my order for that same Batley Maple Leaf 5 yarder from USA Kilts

I also wear my Mackie Balmoral ordered from Dunadd Trading Company.

    Wally,
As your kilt is from the same length of tartan, I'd say you're uniquely qualified to offer me advice. I was thinking of grey with dark red toorie and your picture helps.
    Thanks

While black and navy go with almost anything, a fawn Robert Mackie from Chris at Dunadd would go very nicely with that tartan. Warm grey/tan color, and it would bring the subdued brown of the tartan to the fore without looking too "matchy-matchy".
    As always, YMMV.

Mibbies? I'm assuming that's a bit of slang from across the pond that I am not familar with. What does it mean?
    Thanks

    "Maybe" or "perhaps".
