    The Haven, Boston Ma

    Greetings,
Ive chance to be in Boston this next week for an evening and want to avoid the sales reps and Drs who might be gathering for food and drinks in a place more "Ladeda" than I care for. I found The Haven on google and was wondering if anyone has been there and has any words to share about it. Im there for a medical conference and want to find some good small pubs to enjoy. I will be at the Hyatt Regency down town so if there are some good small pubs Id enjoy hearing about them. Thanks in advance.

Oh and yes I will be dressed nicely in kilt and all.

The Haven is wonderful! Food is great, large yummy selection of beer and the atmosphere is great. If you go kilted they will offer you a deep-fried Mars Bar. I recommend avoiding that. In the evening there is a good chance there will be a piper or two there.

I strongly recommend the Plough and Stars on Mass Avenue in Cambridge as well.

The Black Rose on State Street is a pleasant walk with historical points along the way. The Purple Shamrock is not much of a detour off of State Street turn down Congress toward Faneuil Hall and the back of new City Hall. The Haven is in the neighborhood my grandparents lived in when I was a kid, Jamaica Plain, and is a bit of a jaunt from the Hyatt.

My plans are to walk to the Cambridge area to the Partners in Health headquarters, drop down to The Haven then back up The Black Rose. Sounds like a grand afternoon to me.
