    The Angel's Share

Watch out for the latest Ken Loach film, The Angel's Share being released early next month.
Amongst Ken Loach's previous films were - Kes, My Name is Joe, The Wind that Shook the Barley.
This new film is a comedy set in Scotland with the three main characters being ex-cons and getting involved in attempting to steal a rare malt whisky. Plenty of kilted scenes involving the main characters in a film which has been described as a cross between Whisky Galore and Trainspotting.
    Should be good fun!

Or, barring it's theatrical release, it's a wonderful excuse to buy the DVD and have a Whisky Tasting and film night.

The film has been quite topical this week as the censors have asked Ken Loach to reduce the number of swear words in the film, particularly the 'C' word.
This has been debated on TV and radio so its really given the film a tremendous amount of publicity.
Ken Loach has defended the number of swear words saying that this is very much part of the speech pattern of the lower working class in Glasgow and without this dialogue then the characters would find it hard to portray their parts.
He is possibly right to a good extent as unfortunately swearing seems to be a great part of these type of characters main way of expressing themselves!

Last night was the Gala Premiere of the film. So it will be out on general release now
Strangely pictures in the Scottish newspapers featured the main stars of the film but none were kilted.
Paul Brannigan one of the stars who has been picked from obscurity and a chequered past in and out of the courts stated that he was ready to walk out of the showing if the film showed sub-titles as this was Glasgow and everyone would understand what is being said.
