    Talking Hello there! Help.

Hi there people, I'm new here, and I'm very interested in learning more about the kilt tradition.
As you can see, I'm brazilian, but I have recently visited Edinburgh and was simply fascinated with the Scottish culture.

I have a few questions, like for ex. when did the tradition begin, and how can Scottish people wear kilts in the cold Scottish weather.

Kilts are actually quite warm....but being from Brazil, your idea of cold weather might be different from those of us living in more Northerly climes.

As to the history, I'd refer you to member Matt Newsome's essay:

    Enjoy!

I'll second that recommendation, and also suggest many of Matt's other articles (both on this forum and at www.albanach.org ) as excellent sources of information about the history of the kilt, the types and styles of kilts, and how they may most appropriately be worn.
