US Army tartan variant shades

I see that the popular US Army tartan is now available in 'ancient' and 'reproduction' schemes from DC Dalgliesh via Scotweb:

I don't care for the tan 'reproduction' version, but the olive-drab 'ancient' is sweet! (Tempted to replace my 'modern' Army kilt... )

The images that DC Dalgliesh/Scotweb use are only computer generated and shouldn't be take as completely accurate,they use a sophistcated computer programme to estimate what the ancient or reproduction colours might be, so it's only a guide. Also remember that while they are marked as available, all that means is that can be woven for you in those shades, they are not carrying stock, and so the short run prices would apply.

That's the point I was making they don't hold stock of very much and I suspect they are not actually seeking new or unusual markets!

The software that DC Dalgiesh/Scotweb uses is completely non selective, it simply reads the thread count of a tartan and then extrapolates the result in whatever format is required, 15 oz or 11 oz wool or indeed 3 oz silk and whatever colour palette as well.

It's a very useful guide for getting an idea of the colours and the size of the sett and credit to them for giving everyone a glimpse of what a tartan might look like, but it's only an impression of what you might get if you were to order the selected tartan and had it woven to order.

The point I was trying to make was that Dalgeish don't stock very much, but they can do almost any tartan in almost any colour or shade, indeed as they always have, but since they now have a super image programme on their website now, it's easy to think that they have all these tartans as standard now.There has been more than one post recently enquiring about availabilty or Dalgleish weaving it (as a standard) and I just wanted to make it clear that nothing has really changed with Dalgleish, they still weave to order and that they haven't suddenly increased their stock levels.

Just when I thought I didn't need another kilt... I wonder if the cost would go down if a bunch of us were interested? I'd only want the fabric, itself, as I prefer to make my own kilts.
