    Distaff question.

I should like to know what a wife may properly wear other than her husband's crest in a belt and buckle as a clan badge. Is her husband's crest properly worn in other ways?

It's quite rare that one's husband is armigerous. Most ladies, and men, wear the crest of their clan's chief within a strap and buckle.

    Hello Sassylassie,

Welcome to XMarks from the other side of the Atlantic in Norfolk, England.

Harold is quite right. Heraldicly speaking, a wife should wear her husbands crest first. If he is not armigerous, then her Chief's. Before her marriage, as part of her father's household, she should wear her fathers crest.

    Regards

    Chas
