    Is this a Military Tartan??

I'm not sure if this is a military tartan or not, but it has the double-pronged buckles like a military kilt. I thought it was Erskine, but the only search I do ont the web for "Erskine" comes up as either a place in Southern Scotland or a clan with a blue and green tartan. Any help identifying this with any other beneficial information would be appreciated.

Also know as Menzies Green by the Lochcarron mill in their strome tartans http://www.lochcarron.com/tartanstro...ies_green.html

Can not find any indications that it was ever used as a military tartan

With the possible exception of Black Watch, highland regiments wear clan tartans that were adopted at some point in their regimental history. I am not aware of this tartan being used by a highland regiment in Britain or the Commonwealth. If it were military issue it would probably have a label that shows that (most issued uniforms parts, kilts or otherwise, have those sorts of labels).

Unfortunately there is no label. I'm curious because this is the second one of these I've seen offered for sale, by different sellers, that had advertised the exact same tartan as a military kilt. The double pronged buckles is what threw me.

Having done some research on the tartan, the closest connection that I can find to it being "military" was that it was the tartan of the Dundee City Police Pibe Band, first used by them in the early 20th century. I don't think they exist any more and they changed to another tartan at some time.

Here is a list of Regimental tartans from the S.T.A.
