That's very neat! Thank you for thinking of me.
I believe the thread was deleted because you can't post eBay auctions in the For Sale sub-forum.

Downunder Kilt,
I am sorry that you think the thread, as you stated, " had dissapeared without trace, no explanation."
The truth is, that the thread was deleted for contravening the sticky policy and also for being listing in the For Sale section while simultaneously being offered on EBay.
The explanation of why the thread was delete is there for all to see and the OP of the thread was notified by our staff via PM prior to its deletion.

Thomas H,
If you are not the seller of an item and wish to alert the membership of something on EBay the appropriate sections would be the General Kilt Talk or Accessories sections of the forum.
If you are the owner of the item and wish to offer it to the membership we ask that you not list the item on the forum at the same time it is for sale on another site.
The reason is that a click of the "buy it now" button or the ending of an auction, may result in the item being sold, and no longer available, while you are still in the process of selling it to a member.

Thanks for the explanation Steve, just gets a bit infuriating when you are trying to help a member with a query, spend some time uploading some pics and as you post you get the message that post is trying to go to an unknown path. All has ended well though, cheers

Yeah, the explanation was there in the remnant of the thread title, so we knew exactly why it went away.
But like you, Downunder Kilt, I was in the process of replying to it when it was poofed. I really wish it had just been moved instead of deleted. Since it was just in the wrong forum, it seems to me that moving it would have been the thing to do, since we don't usually see threads deleted entirely for being in the wrong place.

After Steves post Tobus I went to the For Sale thread and found the notation, my bad. I did check through some of the forum topics after the deletion but didn't even think about the For sale section. Must keep on eye on what section a post is in from now on.
