That is much more akin to an Eton style than to a Prince Charlie style.

Have you seen the lot of 1904 vintage Highland attire that included an odd double-breasted(?) Argyll jacket, silver-mounted sporran with MacArthur heraldic crest, two kilts, kilt-shorts, hose, clan badges and other accessories listed at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...E:B:SS:US:1123 Incredible find still in its original period trunk, but a whopping price!

What an interesting listing, thanks for posting the link! I especially like the 3-dimensional design of the belt on badges.

As an aside, I also got a good chuckle out of the eBay bottom banner "People who bought this item also bought. . . " LOL at some of their product associations!

Yes, all of the silver items appear to have been made to the highest level of quality and craftsmanship, which is almost unknown these days:

Even the silver Highland buttons appear to bear the matching MacAlpine crest and motto:

The double-breasted Argyll jacket is a look I'm not all that familiar with and looks a bit odd to me:

I really wish kilt makers still supplied these as necessaries today:

Really quite a time capsule from a more elegant era:

A good reminder of how the quality of craftsmanship (which was once commonplace) has, along with our standard of living, sadly fallen short of what it once was in an earlier era before our society began to decline.

Okay Rabble help me out. I'm looking at this jacket and am really interested. It will be my first kilt jacket. MY question is about the length... how long should a 40 reg jacket be ... I am about 5'10". Will a 19 in jacket in this style be long enough?
