Need Advice about new cargo kilt

I am looking to buy a cargo kilt. My funds are somewhat limited, and I would like to stay in the $100 dollar range. I have found several that I like. UT Kilts, Amerikilt, and Got Kilt. If anyone can compare these or give other suggestions on a kilt in that price range I would love to hear.

Out of those 3, I'd vote for Amerikilt. Mike's (the owner) products are made in the US (the other 2 are made in Pakistan) and his quality is very good for the price. Plus, the matching 'cloth sporran' is a neat addition. You can also call him to see if he has any other colors / materials in stock in his shop that he doesn't have on his site.

Have you considered making your own X-Kilt? For $100, you could buy a used sewing machine (assuming you don't have a machine already), plus the material to make several kilts to experiment with. And at the end of the process, you'd have the knowledge/experience/ability to make yourself unlimited numbers of cargo-style kilts. The best part is that it would be tailored exactly to your body, and you can make all the adjustments you want, rather than buying someone else's off-the-rack product that may or may not fit or perform like you want. All it takes is the time and effort to learn how to do it, using Alan's instructions and help from forum members.

That said, I haven't made one myself. If I were in the market for another cargo-style kilt, though, it's probably the way I'd go.

I actually considered building my own, or having my wife do so since she sews. I have heard that the x kilt pattern doesnt work well for big guys. Perhaps this is not correct, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Another option is Trinity Kilt. They're located in Colorado and say they make their kilts in house. I don't own one, but it's where I plan to get my next one.
Or for around the same price you could get a USAKilt casual. I got a great price on one in the Cape Breton tartan. I don't know if Rocky makes any with pockets, though.
