    Cool Rkilt tweed and accessories

    004.jpg

    Dear Rabble,
I have had fun working with Robert at Rkilts over the last year or so. This past summer I had the privilege of visiting Robert's shop while on vacation with my family. He was a very gracious host. He showed my young teenage sons how to stamp leather, use the sewing machines and cut out the beginnings of a kilt belt. I even got to look through his tweed swatch book! So... here's me in my Rkilt Widdis tweed, complete with matching flashes and embossed kilt straps. I am wearing my brand new Rkilt Festival semi-dress sporran and my Rkilt braided sporran strap. The kilt is machine sewn and made from 16oz Lovat Mills tweed. It is a lovely kilt. Substantial in every way. It falls to the mid-knee. What can I say, the tweed is a hearty cloth. I also wear this kilt a lot. It especially works well for the office and on Sunday's. In fact, this is what I wore to church this morning. By the way, for Sundays I like to dress somewhat toned down. It's amazing however, that wearing a kilt in a semi-dress way always looks good! I also like the subtle contemporary look of this kilt with its symetrical pleating (it has a reverse box-pleat in the center back--I think that's what you call it). The sporran is my newest acquisition. I absolutely love it. Lot's of room, easy to access, and a high quality leather. The hide is bovine (which makes sense given that I live in ranching territory). It's a pleasure to wear. And I really like the feel of the leather. It's beautifully constructed.

I also have a new Rkilt embossed kilt belt. After bumbling around in the belt department (some of you may have seen that thread) I landed with this belt.

I like the way this belt avoids the inside little buckle. There are three holes on each side of the buckle that allow for adjustment either way. The ends of the belt are held in place by a stud/screw dewy. I didn't have the belt on today (waistcoat) but wore it last week with the same kilt, shirt and tie along with my black Argyl and dress sporran for Remembrance Day.

What can I say, I'm shy about posting pics. But I also know how much I have learned from noticing how the rabble puts their outfit together. I'm not one for conventions, per se. But I really like experimenting with wearing the kilt and seeing what works with what I happen to have in the closet. (I hope the photos post)

I really love that kilt! It's great that you are involving your sons in the tradition of the kilt experience.

The tweed kilts really do look sharp, don't they, and Robert does make a quality product. Nicely pulled together outfit!

Hey thanks, guys. This tweed works with lots of colours and is very serviceable in the cooler temps. I also find it slightly understated as opposed to my tartan kilts which are much brighter especially my Robertson Red.

Very nice! I love the look of tweeds. It's awesome to see such a nice one. I look forward to getting one myself.

    Looking good!
