Hi, from western North Carolina

Recently discovered I'm a member of Clan Muirhead (Morehead) through my mother, maternal grandmother, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. My avatar shows the tartan I'm going to wear for non-formal activities. It is the Muirhead modern hunting tartan.

As I'm just starting out, I'm still in the research phase, but plan to have a kilt and accessories by late spring.

One thing I've noticed about kilt and tartan websites, one site is unable to supply me with everything I need, due to my odd sizes. Kilt here, shirt there, socks somewhere else.

Greetings from the highlands of Central Massachusetts. Don't look for a package. Get the best kilt you can - remember two or three cheap kilts = one fantastic kilt. It is a versatile garment and if you get it in the spring you can wear it with a sweater or t-shirt or nearly any shirt and casual socks and shoes. You might want to get a sporran at the same time or while you're waiting for it. There are great deals out there from vendors who advertise here and on the internet. Enjoy!!

I appreciate your comments. I'm a leatherworker, so I'm making my sporran and belt after I finish putting together some pattern ideas. I have a local piper friend who's keeping me on the right track in regards to quality and appropriateness.
