What Is Your Favorite Kilt, And Why?
I know there have been threads like this before, but I haven't seen any created recently and I'm sure there have been new kilts added to collections and new experiences. Share with us what your favorite kilt is and why - be it because of the fabric, appearance, durability, functionality, sentimental value, or even simply comfort. It can be one you currently own, have owned, have worn, hope to acquire, or admire from afar. There is, of course, no wrong reason to like a kilt, so any reason is a good one
I'll kick things off - my favorite kilt is one I don't actually own yet. It is the Great Kilt for a number of reasons. Not only does a wool Great Kilt regulate body temperature well, it also serves as a blanket, a rain cover, a backpack, and if it is an earthy-colored tartan, camouflage (I saw a very neat demonstration of this in which the wearer pulled the fabric over his back then tucked into a ball face-down). I don't have one yet, but will very soon.
And as always, pictures are welcome!
Cheers,
-Jake

Tough question as I have kilts for different reasons/occasions. My nicest kilt is my Newsome Kingussie in Ancient Dunbar. But my USA Kilts Hollyrood gets more wear as th PV is easier to care for. My Robertson Philabeag is only worn for Ren Faire.

I have to agree with Rondo. It is a tough decision. Right now my favorite kilt is the Newsome I just received in Harley-Davidson tartan. However, I think my American Heritage PV will see more use because it is easier to care for and cheaper/easier to replace.

Favorite? No, don't have one. The ones that get the most wear are
USA Kilts casual Davidson, because it's easy and looks good.
USA Kilts 5 yard wool Davidson, because it looks even better.
Barb Tewksbury Leatherneck box pleat, because I like the tartan and box pleats.
Keltoi Black Stewart box pleat, because sometimes you like a redder tartan color
My new Freedom Kilt Dress Blue box pleat is likely to end up on the short list as well.

When going out to eat I'm asked what my favorite dish is. Usual answer from me is "food". I eat and cook everything from Indian, Thai, Mexican, Cajun, Soul, African and all parts far and wide. So to narrow a kilt down would be like narrowing a dish down to what happens to be my taste at the time. So here is my two cents on favorite kilt or kilts and why.
Bonnie Heather Greene tank in German Heritage 16oz wool ===== dress, weddings and special occasions
Hecktor Russell PV Modern MacKenzie ==== 1st kilt that I bought in Scotland
Stillwater Economy Wool Black Watch====== Daily comfort for my walks to work, groceries etc.
My homemade quickdry nylon running kilt === designed like a traditional kilt yet lightweight material for running.
ElKommando Kilt by Mountain Hardwear ====== great hiking kilt
I cant exclude any of my other PV or wool kilts as they all have a purpose such as pubs, movies, camping, hiking and daily wear but the above I would say are my favorites for their specific purpose.

It's okay if you can't choose just one; my intentions for this thread were to highlight what most appeals to you in a kilt. It can help other readers in a number of ways; maybe someone interested in kilting but hasn't found the right reason to buy one yet, maybe someone is looking for new ideas or tartans for a future addition to his/her own collection, or maybe just enlightening a reader to new information or perspectives. Anything that appeals to you may appeal to someone else and help them out in some way I know that's what happened with me; I've learned so much about kilts from XMTS. The Rabble is to thank for me taking that first step and purchasing my first kilt; subsequently, I blame everyone for supporting me in feeding this addiction
Cheers,

Hands down, my Barb T. Tank in Reproduction Colquhoun. Love the colours, love the fit, love the weight and deep pleats. I love everything about it. It was my dream kilt and likely always will be.
