Kilts: SO, so so 2008. What's hot NOW? meggings
"meggings"....aka tights for guys.
http://gma.yahoo.com/video/fashionbe...-31453560.html
Be sure to watch the video. -- the runway models walk by in black contemporary kilts and "meggings". Honest.
Basically it's this look, as sported by mega pop star, Kanye West... except that instead of leather "tights", they're spandex-y tights.

PERSONALLY?
I wore tights when I went cross-county skiing. I have no inherent objection to wearing tights. I wore tights in the late 80's when I was running 25 miles a week. They were warm in the winter. I wore tights in the mid 70's when I was racing bicycles (badly).
But tights on the street? Maybe not. OK, at Lake Tahoe, after skiing, then OK. But otherwise... But you know...OK. Ok, iffin' you really wanna wear tights? yeah? Then wear tights.
But IMHO, "meggings" aka tights, plus a kilt? One or the other, PLEASE.
Please.
That said, didn't King George the something-or-other wear pink tights with a kilt? There's an historical precedent, so it's "traditional", right?

Tights Traditional with the kilt? I think not! Historical? Maybe? Also, I am not altogether sure that the comments uttered, at the time, about that part of His Majesty's kilt attire were all that complimentary!

FLASHBACK to Joe Namath and manihose back in the 70s. They died a quick and justifiable death. Fortunately, the more extreme the fashion, the shorter the shelf life—usually. I'll stick with a nice pair of wool hose with my kilt, thank you very much.

Alan, I do not want to see you in pink tights if you show up for our gathering for Jordan next month. Kilt, definitely, tights, NO

Personally, I like the look. Each to their own, right? The only thing I don't like is the media calling them "meggings." They're "leggings." Men have legs too. Enough said.
And for the record, I wore pink tights when I ran 10k in the Tokyo Run for the Cure in December.

Just for the record, HG World Champion, 2012...Matt Vincent often wears screaming pink tights under his kilt for the warmth factor. He also usually wears blue Rehband neoprene foam knee joint supports/warmers to it breaks up the "tights" look and it appears, mostly, that he's wearing screaming pink kilt hose. When Matt and Mike Zolkiewiecz formed a team to compete for the Team Champs at Pleasanton, Mike wore the pink tights, too.
There's lots of video of Scottish champion, Gregor Edmunds throwing in tights under his kilt. ...but then, that's because it was bloody cold that day.

Well, let's try to look on the bright side. They probably help keep the midges at bay, ... and they look a lot warmer than my sequined thong.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Of course, If I have to keep my legs shaved that would be a deal-breaker.

That's a bit weird. I cant see it being a fashion that I'll follow but what ever floats your boat.
I can understand athletes etc wearing something for warmth but as a fashion statement I'll pass
The hielan' man he wears the kilt, even when it's snowin';
He kens na where the wind comes frae,
But he kens fine where its goin'.
