    That would look just right!

Day Brogues are traditionally black. Day sporrans are traditionally brown or black. Day jackets are traditionally tweed.

You can't go wrong with lovat blue, lovat green, bottle green, or dark red/maroon kilt hose. I have lots of different pairs of flashes, but find that I only wear the red ones.

One of the things we try to teach our customers here at FK is: Just because you start wearing a kilt does not mean that you must now have everything color coordinated to the kilt.

The kilt is very capable of standing on its own. As an example, in a wedding you will see the Grooms and Groomsmen all in the same jacket/tie, but with different Tartans. And it looks perfect.

I often give the advice to color coordinate your shirt and your hose. Then put your kilt on. I often show customers this by grabbing a different Tartan kilt off the rack and holding it up in front of myself. "Still works" is the usual response.

I don't wear flashes everyday. I often wear just the elastic. But if I do wear flashes it is usually with a jacket and tie. So I coordinate my flashes and my pocket square. These act as "the little splash of color" in your outfit.

The same sort of thinking goes towards the Kilt Pin. It is a piece of jewelry similar to a lady wearing a brooch. It should have some meaning to you. Many of us hard core kilties have one pin for each kilt and only take it off when the kilt is cleaned.

About the only thing I try to do on purpose is match my leather. Black Shoes, Black Sporran, Black strap, Black Belt. Or all Brown. But this is not a rule. There are many excellent cases where this can be thrown out the window.

There are no kilt kops. You should be comfortable in your clothes.

    I wear the kilt because:
    Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

Well, we would need just a little more detail.

    What color Tweed?
    What Color waistcoat?
What type and color of Tie and shirt?
    What type kilts?

And most importantly, what is the level of formality of the event.
