Thumbs up Kilted on PBS's Downton Abbey

During last nights season ending episode of Downton Abbey the English Lord and family of Downton Abbey vacation in Scotland at a relatives castle there. Just before dinner starts a piper enters the dinning hall playing and circles and dinning table and the exits the room all to the dismay of the English guests. They were told that the piper will again play every morning to wake everyone up. Sure enough the next scene shows the piper in full dress attire playing just outside the manor on a walkway. Later in the show there is a dance in the manor and shows several of the men in kilted attire. You should be able to see this episode on PBS's website, the 3rd season.

You switched from "castle" to "manor" and, just to be pedantic, we don't have Manors in Scotland.
The castle is, I believe, Inbhir Aora (Inveraray), head office of the Campbells.

I've always found the Scots to be incredibly well mannered.

    Quite true!

I believe the Campbell tartan was much in evidence. We just finished re-watching the Ghillie's Ball as my daughter did not see it last night and I was thinking how much I'm looking forward to attending the Elliot Clan Gathering in The Borders later this year.
