    Tweed caps/hats with a kilt

So far I have not read any posts regarding hats and caps for a kilt outfit other than the Glengarry or the Balmoral. Perhaps I have not searched well enough so if it has been discussed, apologies.
I LOVE Harris Tweed and similar type of caps and have seen them on kilted men in photographs but not too often. A few I snagged online are here...

Question is, what do the modern kilt wearers think? Is wearing them with a casual kilt OK ? As for colour, the tweeds can be coordinated well I think,
especially the browns and dark greens.

    Many thanks for the input.

Here is but one of the many threads that have discussed, over the years, tweed caps.

Just search Flat Caps thru the search function and you will be reading all day.

Before this thread goes off the rails, I'll say that I think they are great!

wear what you like...bugger convention. I often..well..constantly..wear an open weave but tweedy looking flat cap...and usually have it on with the kilt...my hair is growing out and is sort of unmanageable..so the cap needs be.

You will find a host of posts and opinions here regarding flat caps and kilts. As for me, unless it's a strictly "Scottish" event, tweed caps can look great with a kilt.

Thanks for the link downunderkilt. I knew I had missed something. I will now be readig up. As for myself, well the cap is going to be part no matter what from time to time. Not sure if I will wear my tweed coats or not but just wanted other ideas/opinions.

    Thanks!!

But, somebody already wrote that. I quickly copied it before this thread goes off the rails.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

My Tilley Ivy Cap is my go to hat. When I bought it (actually the Lass bought it for me) I was wearing my MacLean Hunting kilt. I wanted to get a Tilley fedora, but the Lass & everyone at Tilley thought the Ivy looked better.

I love flat caps and have several. I wear then all the time. As such, I wear them while kilted as well. They are a hot button topic, but since you did specify MODERN vice traditional, you should mot get beat up too bad.
