First Post and First DIY Sporran

This is my first post to the site and already, with the help of the forums, I have constructed a Sporran out of leather scraps I had left over from a Halloween costume. It still needs finishing touches, such as the hooks for the belt, a clasp and some decorative elements (probably a celtic knot of some kind), but this is basically it. I may also line it and add a sleeve pocket for my phone on the inside wall. This isnt just my first DIY sporran, this is my first altogether. Since I started wearing kilts on a semi-regular basis, I have not bothered with a sporran, the kilts I have made have all had pockets in them. I decided that the look wasn't complete and decided to try and make one before spending the money on one.

Also with the help of the guides on the forum, I have started making my wife a Kilt. I have made three before but they have all been broad-pleat hip kilts. This will be my first attempt at a 'traditional' style kilt. I will post photos when it is finished.

It's awesome that there is a such a large community of kilt-wearers. I look forward to being involved in such an active community.

    Cheers From Ottawa,

    Alan

Greetings Allen and welcome to X Marks from Delaware. Looks like a great start to a really nice sporran, one I'm sure you will be proud to wear (I know I would).

You're in good company on this forum.
