    Just got my Xmarks tartan

Just received my Xmarks Tartan yesterday. It is definaely alot darker than I thought but i must say it is gorgous. Cant wait to finish up a few projects so I can start on working with this fabric.
I don't always wear a kilt, but when I do, I've made it myself.

Did you get PV or wool? My experience with XMarks PV is "wash it first" as a lot of that dark blue will rub off as you work with it. Nothing against the fabric (it's got lots to give LOL), I've made several garments from it so far.

I went with PV. I always wash before I start working to take care of any bleeding or shrinking that may arise.

Your X Marks P/V should not shrink. It is a blend of Polyester and Rayon.

There may be some excess dye on the fabric and that will come out on the first washing. This bolt however did not have the excess dye of the other runs.

You should notice only very, very minimal fading over time. I have see X Marks P/V kilts after three and four years of wear and many washings that look as good as on the day they were made.
