Greetings from the green hills of Tennessee

    Ladies and Gents,

Just wanted to send a quick "than you" to Steve for accepting the registration; I look forward to sharing and learning in the future.

I'm from eastern Tennessee where many if not most of the families here for more than three generations past hail from either Ireland, Scotland, or a mix between. Have been a close follower of my own Celtic roots all my life, thanks to "Mum" who never failed to include the heritage of my blood in my raising. Found the U.S. Naval Academy an equally welcoming home for interest in Celtic ancestry, and served for about nine years as an officer afloat and ashore, including an advisory tour to the Afghan National Army as the S-3 Operations Officer back in 2007-2008. Left active service as Lieutenant Commander a few years back and currently work in Knoxville as lead sales for a technology firm.

A couple years back, I finally decided to try my hand at going semi-"Kiltie" and decided to go with Clan MacPhearson's tartan (Gillespie on father's side, Dyer, Richie, Hughes and Martin in the mix), and have gradually learned not to make "Noob" mistakes like belt with waistcoat, or diced hose with daywear, etc. Generally go for "casual" daywear with brown plain sporran and belt, short sleeve "aviator" shirt, and lovat blue hose/red flashes. Dress up a bit more with the diced hose, waistcoat and jacket when correct...hoping to fit out some proper "black tie" in the near future.

    Sincerely,

    J. D. Gillespie

Welcome J. D., to X Marks from Lower Slower Delaware. I understand and appreciate your kilted progression (much the way I've been going about it). XMTS is certainly a good place to learn the details and keep yourself on track. More than that however, it's a great group of intelligent people committed to their interest in wearing the kilt and always ready for a lively discussion of the finer points.

    Enjoy,
    Nile
