A soon to be Kilted Newb in WA
Live near the base of Mount Rainier in a small town called Buckley. I'm getting ready to order my first kilt but want to "do it right" and not come off as a total idiot! I've worn a kilt before for a couples wedding and found the experience quite enjoyable. Hoping to find lots of information and support here on the forum!! Time to get Kilted!!!

Greetings Bear and welcome to X Marks from lower, slower Delaware.
Though your time to get kilted is neigh, if your careful, study this form and take your time, you'll certainly do it right. 'Doing it right' has many connotations; however, you can't go wrong if you do it respecting the traditions of kilting (and/or Highland dress) as you integrate it with your personal style and level of comfort.
You will indeed, find a lot of information and support here on XMTS.

Welcome from the SW corner of the state! If you're in Buckley you have one of the better Northwest Highland Games right in your back yard. The Seattle games take place in Enumclaw July 27th and 28th and while you don't necessarily take everything you see there as being the "right way" to wear a kilt it is at least a good time to put on the kilt and get out with other kilt wearers. My Daughter and Son-In-Law live in Spanaway and we usually get there on Sunday. There are usually a few other Xmarkers that go as well. Maybe we can get an Xmarks meet and greet set up at the games. In the mean time, welcome to the rabble and enjoy your adventure here. Jamie
