The original plan was to make this trip a two day affair however........ so me and my old man traveled up from the Shires on Saturday morning getting into Edinburgh mid afternoon, for a change it was really warm, up into the mid 20's(yes i know for some of you that's cold ) we got our stuff to the hotel and just had enough time to pop up to the tat shops to get a few prezzies for the kids ,
By 6pm we where entering The Royal Scots Club, a superb venue steeped in history. By the time all 90 guests had arrived got their liquid refreshments and made it into the main room it was hot, Dinner was served at 7 see menu above and good fare it was by 9 the pipers where ready the first up was PM Gordon Walker playing Am Bratach Gorm, in away this was when the interesting stuff started for me, I really love the Piobaireachd but I'm not familiar with any of these tunes. After about 5 minutes playing/ getting happy with the pipes in the room Gordon played a blinding tune, now i have recorded this BUT as yet I've had no luck in getting the dam thing uploaded (note to self get a new box brownie!) On an interesting note Gordon cut his usual dash including what looked like white/silver laces in his gillie brogues and silver flashes which complimented the stripe of his kilt.
Faye Henderson, Iain Speirs and Stuart Liddell all played fantastic tunes too. I could write pages and pages on this wonderful evening suffice to say it was a wonderful evening for only £37.50 a head what more could you ask roll on next year
On a foot note lots of PC's/Regulation doublets a few Argyle jackets even a chap in a dark tweed Argyle + one chap in a very fetching tartan suit, I did get a few picture but to be honest it just did not feel like the type of event where you could wonder around snapping pictures willy nilly

Sounds like a real feast for the piobaireachd fan. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to have to blow up those pics of the tunes.

Thanks for posting those! What a great event. What a lineup of talent! I've had the pleasure of hearing Gordon Walker playing live in an intimate setting in Glasgow (his chanter not a yard from me) but I would love hear Faye Henderson and the others.
I see a gent in what appears to be the Mess Dress of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
I have always had a love for John MacLellan's playing. It was this album that got me hooked on the pipes in the first place. My father had it amongst his oddly eclectic record collection and I listened to it over and over back in the early 1970s. Eventually I began pestering my father to get me a chanter and later the pipes.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! My good mate and professional piper/piping instructor, Matt Pantaleoni would love this!
Cheers,
