Bagpipe ‘ban’ leaves Scots fans reeling

Surely this must be the latest vile calumny perpetrated on Scottish football fans - the Tartan Army is to be prevented from playing the pipes in England - http://www.scotsman.com/news/leaders...-ban-1-2969387

This report is both out of date and inaccurate.

The regulations at the new Wembley stadium ban unauthorized musical instruments of all kinds. There is no discrimination against the Scots or bagpipes since all such instruments come under this rubric.

However, the authorities at Wembley are apparently prepared to make a concession for the use of bagpipes in this particular instance. This is hardly a "vile calumny." See the following ----

Well that's me told then . Consider my hand well and truly smacked . Far be it from me to suggest that anything printed in "The Scotsman" is anything but a load of rubbish. Or am I perhaps missing a scintilla of over-sensitivity?

Yes, it seems to me that The Scotsman tried to sensationalise this by referring to a bagpipes ban. Reading beyond the headlines, it seems to me, that for bagpipes, as with any other musical instrument, permission needs to be applied for and may be granted for the bringing of bagpipes into Wembley stadium.

Come on now, Alex. This is all about a bit of pre-match banter. I'm surprised the 1966 World cup hasn't been mentioned yet.
