As seen at Blair Atholl Horse Show.
Well there we were wandering around the horse show at Blair Atholl, a wonderful event in splendid surroundings and lo and behold we came across this gentleman, a Scot, wearing a kilt(?). Alright I can hear you say, why not, you are in the Highlands after all. Well fair enough, but it was the only kilt(?)that we saw all day and um, well, errr, ahhh, hardly traditional! Anyway after a very pleasant chat, I was allowed to take a couple of pictures on my iphone. Thought some of you may be interested.

It seems that photobucket are still up to their old tricks, in picture one! Anyway the pleats appear to have been sown down except the bottom 10 inches or so and they seem to continue around to the front.

Very interesting look, and it's always a great day out there at the Blair Atholl Horse Show. Did you happen to run into Ruaridh? Thanks for sharing, Jock.
Cheers,

Cheers,
Both Ruaridh and his father were on parade as usual. I am not sure that they were showing that day. Poor Ruaridh had a bad start to our local show(Lochaber Show) a couple of days later, with a double puncture in his horse lorry. He arrived late and missed competeing in the show, but like the stalwart that he is, he still came to give a demonstration on Highland Pony working harness, which was much appreciated by all.

Wonderful, and well done to Ruaridh! Stalwart indeed.

Pleats all the way around... sewn down nearly to the bottom of the "kilt".... and rather haphazardly from the look of it... I'm left wondering just what is going on there. I wouldn't call it a kilt myself. I'm wondering if this gent had it made that way for a reason, or did he happen to find it on the rack somewhere and took a fancy to it.

His garment almost appears to be pleated shorts...

I can't answer your questions with any accuracy Matt. The chap in the picture did mention that there was a "fashion" type stand on the show ground somewhere that was responsible for the creation and I did wonder if "Dad"(?) got roped in to model the wares, I know the wife(mum?) was carrying rather a splendid shoulder bag that came from the same place. In passing, they both looked extremely content with life and not phased in the least by the attention.

I think his outfit looks splendid, because he wears it so well, looks totally relaxed in it, is wearing a tattersall shirt, and has a sense of color blending. Like, I even like his kilt-like garment. It does indeed appear to be a bit like "shorts" with a split of some kind in the front to facilitate walking.
Thanks for thinking of us, Jock, and for posting those pics.
Did he refer to it as a kilt? Did he make any comments about it, other than its origin at the "fashion" stand?

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

A weird looking garment, I hate to say it, but the gentleman might have looked better in breeks.
