Greetings, all
Just ordered my first traditional tartan kilt from USA Kilts - it's a custom weave so I won't be seeing it before early 2014.
My known Scottish heritage is MacPhail, but I chose to purchase the Jones family tartan for my own surname. It's a beautiful blue and green with a red and a white stripe.
I plan to wear it often, not only for parties and holidays, and look forward to benefiting from the experience, knowledge, and wisdom of my fellow forum members. And I look forward to becoming one of whom new forum members can count on for good advice.

Greetings Creag, and welcome to X Marks from Delaware.
It looks like you've done your homework before choosing your tartan and I must say, it is a nice one. Your kilt will arrive before you know it so, in the mean time, you can work on your kit.
You'll learn a lot here and, I'm sure, you'll be sharing your experiences before too long.
Glad you chose to join the rabble.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle.
