Chesapeake Celtic Festival
The 'Chesapeake Celtic Festival' will be the weekend of October 5 & 6. This festival bills itself as a celebration of the Celtic nations of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Isle of Man, Brittany and Asturias & Galicia (Spain). This year the entertainment includes the Ocean City, MD Pipe and Drum Band, IONA and Moch Pryderi, in addition to all the usual activities and events. Information can be found here.
This event is held at an outdoor living history museum called Furnace Town, near Snow Hill, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (Delmarva) just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean or the Chesapeake Bay.
It's a lovely setting in the woods with various period buildings and a large, mid 1800's blast furnace on the river bank.
I got my first kilt from a vender (AmeriKilt) at this event about four years ago and, well... you all know what that started.
Susan and I have attended this event for several years now and are planning to attend again this year though not sure which day yet.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. Woohoo, Moch Pryderi is my hometown Celtic band. All the musicians will deny knowing me though. I'm not the sort that they want to cohort!  They will be playing this weekend here at the Fredericksburg Welsh Festival.
The Chesapeake Celtic Festival was the first Celtic Festival I attended. It was many years ago when I was a big time cyclist knocking at century rides and rode in The Sea Gull Century.

Ern, I look forward to hearing Moch Pryderi. I've never heard them but, I've heard a lot of good about them. OK, now I'm going to be sure to talk to them (and I'll deny knowing you too! Ha, ha!).
Ironically, The Chesapeake Celtic Festival was the first Celtic Festival I attended as well. I got my first kilt from a vender there (a saffron utility kilt) and slipped into the back of the nearby Print House Exhibit and put it on.

I'm sure you'll enjoy them. I didn't have your wisdom to get a kilt then.

Ok... It's this weekend, October 5 & 6, the Chesapeake Celtic Festival. Over here on Delmarva (Maryland's Eastern Shore) just south of Salisbury, MD at Furnace Town (near Snow Hill, MD). The link above will take you to their web site.
Susan and I are planning to attend on Saturday and I will be wearing my X Marks, dandelion.
Is anyone else planning to go?
