Before doing the pleat cut-outs on a Fraser kilt

Just before doing the pleat cut-outs on the Red Fraser kilt I'm working on, I couldn't resist taking a moment to enjoy the visual delight of seeing the loops of red. They had the look of an Elizabethan ruff, especially with the light coming through from behind.

I know what you mean Bonnie. We spend an aweful lot of time with the tartan.
It is nice just to stop and admire it once in awhile.
Sometimes I feel like it is a "living"being when I start and "tame it" after having pulled and stretched and flipped it back and forth for hours.

Nice visual, Bonnie and it looks like it's pleated to the red stripe. Looks like you've had a run of Fraser tartans lately. A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh

By the way, Susan & I wore our new kilts this weekend to the Maryland Renaissance Festival (pics here).

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. That is one lucky member of Clan Fraser, Heather! Very nice. Very arty photo, too. Good eye.
