    Apollo 12 Tartan

In Scotland we don't just have clan tartan's as most of you will know we have distict tartans and now even football teams have there own Tartan

Most of the Apollo astronauts where descended from Scotland the most famous example is Neil Armstrong in November 1969 Apollo 12 landed on the Moon and Alan Bean took a piece of the McBean tartan to the Moon this is on display in Houston's Kilt Shop in Paisley Scotland.

Last year my friend Aileen Malone arranged an event and invited Dick Gordon who was the command module pilot of Apollo 12 to come to Scotland to do a talk. As part of this event the Kilt shop donated a Kilt with tartan designed with the help of Dick Gordon and Alan Bean this was to be auctioned at the event to raise funds to cover the costs. so being interested in space this was a kilt I had to get.

I cant get the pictures to appear but if you click on the link you can see them

Um, the late Neil Armstrong, mission commander of the Apollo 11 moon landing, was on the moon July 20/21 1969. (I've had an interest in Apollo 11/Mr. Armstrong since I discovered he and I shared a birthday - I was born on his 39th).

Yes, go on mods, please weave this thread into the proper tartan!

(Sorry, couldn't resist. Probably been done before and all.)
