    home town jamboree

    We went out to oak glen for the country dinner and jamboree. After everyone who wants to stays and jams.

    What were you singing? Were you singing a cappella, because nobody in the picture is playing? Whatever it was, it must have been good. It brought a wide smile to that young man. Nice kilts, by the way.
    I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

    It was "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda" They had tried to play along but no body knew the song. Also since I started a cappella I started in what ever key felt right. They were trying to figure out the song and the key so I finally had to ask them to stop because they were several keys and were playing wrong progressions and I got to the point I wasn't even singing the right melody. It felt like it was written by alban berg. So they stopped and I sang it a cappella. This dinner is one of my favorite things to do. There are some incredible muscians. The young dark haired girl is a member of a band called the whibberlies, all siblings. They are some of the best blue grass pickers I have ever heard.

    Blue Grass Pickers in SoCal, say it's not so.........
    The numerous best I've heard come from Kentucky, Tenn, Ohio and West VA.....
    As told to me by a Kentucky Group, " you can take the boys outta the 'hollers, but you can't take the 'hollers outta the boys...".
