Designing a New Tartan for Aberdeenshire

    That's what this lady's doing:

    http://donnawilsonsblog.blogspot.com...shire.html?m=1

The method seems a bit dicey. . .but what do I know. I've never designed a tartan.

    Cheers,

Actually may not be as dicey as it seems.
IIRC the Isle of Skye tartan represents the colours of the island, purple for the heather, etc., so selecting colours this way isn't a new idea and of course as a designer she can always tweak the final choices.
I'm sorry sweetie, the weavers just can't make a puce green dye so we'll have to use grass green...

    Not sure about this.

What is wrong with the Aberdeenshire district tartan (and the 9 others that are supposed to represent something to do with Aberdeen) that already exists?

I don't know of an Aberdeenshire District tartan - only ABERDEEN (City).

Aberdeenshire might be many things, but a District it is not.

OK. Pick the nits if you want to.

There are already 10 tartans pertaining to Aberdeen, (district, football clubs, university etc). What I'm saying is do they really need another?

The ABERDEEN DISTRICT tartan is quite outstanding in it's own right and, according to the Scottish Register of Tartans, one of the oldest tartans produced by Wilsons of Bannockburn.

Edited to add: As there are none for representing Aberdeenshire perhaps they think that they do really need one.
