I have a Heritage of Scotland 8 yard poly kilt that i will be wearing to my Christmas party and i need to buy hose to go with it . I am torn between black , blue or white . I will be wearing it with a black jacket, black shoes and a white shirt and Christmas tie . Also should i be wearing a vest with this outfit ? Any other idea's on hose colour ?

Choose whichever colour hose you please; but bear in mind that some people hate white hose and many also find black hose to be rather boring and formal; highland wear is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy more colour than you might otherwise explore in trousered life!

... now is there a polite way I can convince you to bin the "Christmas Tie"? If not then definitely wear the vest so that it is covered up as much as possible otherwise go with what you think looks best.

My first choice would be claret hose, and after that a lighter blue. If it were me I would wear a waistcoat, I feel it completes an outfit.

I wear mine with a navy hose. From photos I have seen there are some slight differences in shading and the blue in mine is very dark. I have a pair of lovatt blue hose but I feel they are too light ...and maybe clash a little with the purple. My vote would be navy or a purple hose.

Err... Black, Charcoal, Navy Blue, Ancient (or Lovat) Blue, Claret, whichever you prefer. White or Cream (Ecu) would work as well but it won't be the popular choice.

W Brewin & co. who trade on ebay as WB Socks are a good source for budget kilt hose. So are Heritage of Scotland and Scotland Kilt Company.

Orange or yellow hose would look awesome. Claret would be also good.
A waistcoat always finishes a look.
Please pick a tie that goes with your over all look (trying to be nice).

Yep - it's CHRISTMAS! And how about some jingle bells instead of flashes - 'tis the season to be jolly!

It's a very simple rule; just choose a strip in your tartan that you'd like to emphasise and get the same color hose. The thinner the stripe, the greater the emphasis. Black and white are considered formal, everything else is casual. If it's a Christmas party, why not just wear red? I'm sure they're out there, but you may have to go to a sporting goods store to find them. Good luck and have a great time! You'll probably be the best dressed one there.
Only 9 notes. How hard could it be?
