    thanksgiving at sequoia national park

It's been 5 years since we spent thanksgiving at sequoia. I took my 2 boys (my wife had gone to see her parents and I wasn't particularly welcome) It was a great 4 days. I was the only one kilted. (The boys thought it would be too cold. Yea I know they could get kicked out of the clan) I tried a little rock throwing one morning. Sequoias are incredible trees. One morning this bear walked through our camp.

So who won the rock throwing contest?

Looks like the bears seem pretty comfortable around people. Years ago, when I backpacked in the Sierra, had to hang bells on my backpack to keep from surprising them on blind corners.

It was a great little visit. Only thing beter would have been if the campgrounds on top had stayed opened. It is really cold at 7000 feet at night but that is the fun of thanksgiving camping

Great pics. Thanks for posting. But, be honest now. That bear is in full retreat because it saw you in that plaid kilt and plaid shirt without white (oops, I mean ecru) hose. Either that or you threw a rock at it.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I hadn't really intended to wear the plaid shirt but it was just cool enough I needed it.
