Unfortunately I'm afraid this may not make it into Canada either.
Last week the Canadian Food Inspection Agency seized 700 cases of British made products that do not comply with Canadian food safety requirements. Some are meat products that did not have the required documentation. And some contain non Canadian approved ingredients such as too many vitamins or food colorings.
Some of the products seized were Irn Bru, Marmite, Ovaltine, Lucozade, & Penguin chocolate biscuits.
These products are made in a Canadian approved formula. Only British formula products were affected.
It tastes like itself - that is the fascination, I think. It is a complex mixture, and I think that different people pick up different things. It might depend on age and what sweets you could buy at your local shop.
I've only had it once, and the best I could describe it was "a bland orange cream soda". I couldn't say whether it was a true UK recipe, or some North American-only recipe. I got it last year at one of the Scottish Games either here in Ohio, or maybe Michigan. Would I drink it again? Sure. Would I make it the reason for a special trip to the soda aisle at the market? Probably not.

It definetly has a unique taste.
A fact i heard was that everywhere in the world Coca cola was the number 1 drink, whilst in Scotland Irn-bru is number 1. The only place on earth
Living many years now in Southern California, Irn Bru's flavor is somewhat familiar: we have ice cream bars called 50/50 Bars (half orange half vanilla) and some fast-food drivethroughs have 'orange shakes' which are likewise half orange half vanilla. To me Irn Bru tastes like a soda version of those.
Very difficult to find Irn Bru here. I drank it all the time while in Scotland.
While on the topic of quirky soft drinks, we now have available in our local groceries a knockoff of the Butterbeer served at The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmead in Orlando Florida. It's essentially a blend of cream soda and butterscotch, quite tasty.

So from the descriptions I have read of it, it will taste like what people in the great lakes area know as a cream-sickle. An orange/vanilla pop-sickle. I think I may like that soda then.
