    fossil ivory buttons

    If you had a set of these fossil mammoth ivory buttons what jacket would you put them on?

    If you had more than what were in the picture, I suggest an argyle. But the number of them makes it a bit problematic. Have you thought about using them on a waist coat? There are conversion kits you can buy to make the smaller ones into cufflinks.

    I can get as many as I need...the question is, really, black or tweed Argyle, or Wallace, or a Doublet of some sort. The place that offers these also has cufflinks and brooches.

    I think if you had a herring-bone tweed dark grey or black argyle jacket these buttons would look great.

    Even if you are a member of a yacht club, if all the buttons have sailboats on them I'd pass, as far as Highland attire is concerned. If you can have anything you want cut into the face of the buttons I'd suggest having them crested, or at least monogrammed.
