    Red Hot Chili Pipers

This is a fun bagpipe cover of a current top 40 hit along with some other great tunes. Normally I would think those red sporrans were horrendous, but I think they work well in this context.

They're really fantastic to see live in concert. I hope I get to catch them again this summer.

BTW: I'm not a huge fan of the red 'fuzzy bunny' sporrans either.

Let's be clear: I'm no fan of dressing the way they have, but I understand that it all fits together into the black/red pattern they've chosen.

This is a very, very long way from being a traditional pipe band, so of course, so are their outfits. On the other hand, I note that a lot of leeway has also been given over the years, to the traditional pipe bands in the uniforms they select, so this might be expected considering how non-traditional the repertoire is of this particular band, so maybe it's at least as appropriate as their music.

Added to that, they're certainly highlighting the versatility and range of the pipes, and so in that category, I'm willing to give them a lot of elbow room.

Kudos to the guys for showing what might be done (even if it's nothing I'd ever choose.) The avant garde fashion runways of the world are never what those of us in the general public would choose to wear. These fellows are dressing and performing in that runway tradition. I'll leave it to the pipers in the crowd to comment on their technical skills.

Nice video, thanks Nathan. I guess I am old school but it is nice to see a musical group dressed respectfully instead of old jeans and scroungy shirts like so many of today's groups dress. And in this context the red sporrans are right on, to me at least.

    Thanks for sharing, Nathan.

Also not really my style but they do illustrate the versatility of the pipes and while their dress is certainly not traditional, they do wear it well and with respect for its origins, unlike so many of the so called kilted bands. On that basis, like Father Bill, I think a good measure of flexibility is in order.

I saw their kilts up close last year and the "tartan" seemed woven

Do a search for them on Youtube; they've got a number of different recordings, all of them rather wild.

Yes, they are awesome live! I saw them for the first time at the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio. Just superb!
