Where can I find a kilt maker that does Box Pleats?
Well Id like to get a 4yd-ish Box Pleat Kilt...That won't take me 6 months to get. Can anyone recommend a kilt maker that is reasonable and will get it to me in 6-7 weeks?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Bill

John at Keltoi (see above) can get you what you want but it won't be 6-7 weeks. His current waiting list, according to his web site, is 15 weeks.
I have one and it is a quality product.

I'm a dedicated fan of John's. Keltoi's a great bet and I have one of his box pleats and a knife pleat on order, but most good kiltmakers can do a boxpleat.
You didn't say if you wanted a military box or an historical one. That's pretty important too. Over to the Great Rabble.

Give him a couple of days; he's slow on e-mail.

"Reasonable" and a 6-week wait? No, I can't recommend anybody. Top-notch and worth the 6-9-month wait? I recommend Matt Newsome of Newhouse Highland.

Have you called usa kilts. I know one of their workers, Mack I think, has started to do them, and you can pay extra for a 2-3 week out the door turn around.

Just trying to help with this.....
I've been making 4-5 yard box pleated kilts for a couple of years.
They don't take as long as it takes to make 8 yard knife pleated kilts or military box pleated kilts.
It's always busy, but working full time at hand sewing kilts, it's possible to make 8-10 kilts a month.

Any number of Xmarks kilt makers can do a box pleat, but I think most of them are booked out significantly farther than 6 weeks.
Also, what did you have in mind for "reasonable"? Four yards of wool tartan is still going to run you a chunk of money
and then you can expect to pay somewhere between $200-300 to have the kilt actually made.

I could wait 12 weeks and Id like to stay in the $400 range out the door so to speak....I think that's reasonable!
