    Menagerie Week Here Again

It's funny, but sometimes commissions come in waves. I might get 3-4 brass cantle orders at a time, or several horse hair sporrans back-to-back.

This time it was "Unusual Hides" time.

Fish Skins with Commissioner's Own Sigil tooling-

    Detail

    Zebra Hide With Crest

I found some kidskin embosses to look like elephant, so we used that for the rear

    And a more typical hide-

    Red Fox

    With matching waistplate

Finally, no fur at all, but a pattern less commonly seen today-

Awesome work. I've come to expect no less than impressive things. I really like the red fox sporran. Is the cantle a cast piece in white bronze/brass/pewter?

Thanks all for the kind words. It's always interesting getting to work with a new material, each one presents it's own challenges.

That cantle is from ClanArt and it is cast pewter. It's their "Viking Knotwork" model.

Some day... when I get some extra spending money... I NEED to have a wonderful sporran made such as this. I have easy access to many wonderful hides and would love something like this made of one. Beaver would be a number one choice of mine for personal reasons but muskrat or something else would do fine as well. WOW... I can never stop looking at the fabulous sporrans you make!
