    it looks to me like the U.S. Navy tartan. If not the same then very similar. Does this tartan have a different name outside the U.S.?

    Yep, it does look like US Navy. Why on Earth would the Dublin Fire Brigade be wearing that tartan?

    Not sure it is the US Navy Tartan which has a red stripe in it. I don't see any red in the Fire Brigade tartan. I'm curious as to which tartan it is. There web site doesn't seem to say. Edit: I take that back - one photo I found does seem to show a faint red stripe.
