Kilt belt
I was wondering what kind of kilt belt do you all prefer? The one with the little buckle inside or the one with Velcro inside?
On a side note I have heard some people upset about the little buckle inside wrecking their kilts? Just wondering.

Mike,
Not sure what type of construction you are talking about. No inside buckles on my kilts and no velcro either. Photo's would certainly help.

I was talking about the little buckle on the inside of certain belts would rub on the outside of kilts and make a hole in the kilt.
The Velcro verse the little buckle on the inside of the belt not the kilt was the other question. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear

I think Mike is referring to this type of belt:-
It's not a belt I use any more, it was my first adult kilt belt and seems to have shrunk slightly in the intervening years. I don't wear that style of belt any more either, but it's not worth enough to sell and I can't face just throwing it out.
It never did my kilt any damage, but it didn't get worn all that often either.

I had no damage, but the leather wasn't good quality and it died. I had Robert Pel at R-Kilts make me a new one - with smooth snaps and really heavy leather. I love it!

Sorry Mike. Got it now. I have the buckle on the inside but I don't wear this style of belt very often, so it really isn't a problem. Besides, when it is snugged up, it's not moving around a lot.

I fear that I am hijacking this thread, but I am intrigued by all the guys that don't wear that style of belt. As a newbie, I thought it was de rigueur, classic, traditional, etc. What sort of belt do you wear with the kilt?

I used to wear that belt for evening wear, but now I have waistcoats for both PC and black Argyll, so don't wear a belt with those any more.
I sadly don't have a waistcoat to go with my tweed Argyll, so wear a brown leather belt with brass buckle, seen here:-
It was my grandfather's belt, but I'm thinking of replacing it with a new one and matching sporran.
