    Regimental ties

It has been mentioned many times by some traditionalists on this forum that a regimental, school or club tie is a classic choice with Traditional Highland Civilian Dress. I enjoy striped ties in general and wear them with Highland and Saxon attire. I've finally tracked down neck ties for the two military branches whose cap badges I've worn in uniform, the Nova Scotia Highlanders and the Logistics branch.

I'm going to put in the order as soon as the vendor, Penny's of Thunder Bay, Ontario gets back to me on a few other items I'm looking into. Here are photos of the two ties:

What do you think of the classic regimental, club or school tie stripes with THCD? Too stuffy and old school or the perfect combination?

I think they work perfectly. I also think those will look great with your tartan.

Nathan, thanks for the link, I may have to persue some purchases. And, Jenny Penny and I served together one summer. What are the odds?

Not sure if this falls under club or school but I wholeheartedly approve of striped ties.

I think they're perfect! They will look grand with the rest of your kit.

I just wish my university had an official tie...

I was not in the military, and no prestigious schools in my background. I did not come from "money" and while we do well, we are by no means prosperous. I have always had suit and tie jobs, and have a wide variety of ties. I will wear whatever I think is best with whatever else I have on.

I have a number of Jerry Garcia ties that are bold and bright and look good against solid color shirts. I have a nice one on today as a matter of fact, and only knew it was a Garcia by looking at the back. The color is difficult to describe, but it is shades of purple with white and medium blue stripes. I'm wearing it with a medium blue shirt that I often wear kilted.

A favorite of mine with my small check tatersalls is a trout fishing tie.

My next highland dress event is the tartan parade in NYC April 5. I will of course be marching (to the best of my limited ability) with the Campbell Clan Society - North America.

I like them. I do not know many, but I know the ones to.which I am affiliated. So, I look at ties to see if there may be a connection between the wearer and myself. I also do so aware that it may just be a cool tie with no connection to the wearer. Nevertheless, I like them and like tartan, I would casually bring up he connection if I were able to do so. For example, I have a club tie from a swanky tennis club my wife is a member of. I fully expect that anyone recognizing it has an affiliation with that same club.

I think they are spot on Nathan, wear them with pride. I wear my primary and secondary school ties, a couple of ties of organisations I have worked for, the XMTS tie (as illustrated in post 4) and the ABF tie. Cheers
