I bought a new dress sporran on ebay last week because my current one is sealskin and I didn't want to take it out of the country for fear of having customs issues upon my return. Picked up this leather/cowhide sporran for $25.00. It looks similar to my Scottish made sealskin sporran except for the cantle. There is no manufacturer mark on it that I can find so I suspect that it may be a Pakistan knock off. Is there any way to tell? Here is the sporran.

It's hard to tell from the relatively distant pic, but based on the price I'd be willing to put money on it being Pakistani made. ith:

The heavy cantle looks like the Pakistani ones sold in the souvenir shops on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. They are a wee bit dearer at £25.

The stamped cantle and tassels that don't line up look like hallmarks of an off-shore sporran to me.
Actually when I got the sporran the tassels do line up, though you are right about the stamped cantle. The good news is that I will only wear it if and when I travel outside of the U.S.
